About bazroberts

This blog is for those who want to learn how to use Google Workspace (formerly called G Suite) and Google Apps Script and in particular, Google Docs, Drive, Forms, Meet, Sheets, Slides, and Sites.

Personally, I use these both at work and in my personal life. They have radically changed the way I do things. Google really has excelled itself with these and I particularly like the fact they are continually developing them, making them even better.

You will also find Google Apps Script, which is the code hiding behind some of the Apps, and which you can use to automate things, link the Apps together and generally do some wonderful things even with limited coding experience. I encourage you to try it out!

If you have any comments or questions about the posts, please contact me at baz@bazroberts.com. As I do this in my limited free-time, I can only answer questions related to the posts. 😀

Enjoy! Baz

PS. If you can, please support my site by buying a book or two! See the list of books below. TY! 🙂

  1. Hey Baz! I really like your articles – much easier to digest than Google’s help files.

I’m a Google for Education Certified Trainer and I’m working on a slide deck to cover many of the functions you use as well (it’s a support piece for a workshop I run). My intentions were to list your blog as a resource, but seeing as we seem to be on the same wavelength regarding the importance of these different functions, I’d like to like directly to your post. I’m sure you won’t have any problems with that, but I wanted to let you know first.

Initially, my plan was also to use the slide deck as a self-directed learning piece (which I will still do) but use your information as a more comprehensive background. You can check out the work in progress here:

  2. this is a pretty good website, very informative, but some things i find are that the descriptions are under the images, which is a little confusing, and the background is too distracting and saturated

    1. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. Personally, I prefer to have the image first and then the text so that people have an idea of what I’m talking about in the text. As for the background, I’m just experimenting with something away from the usual white. Thanks again for taking the time to leave a comment.

  3. I want to be able to take my balance on say a credit card and subtract payments and show balance remaining Column A is date Column B is beginning balance Column C is payment amount (enter a negative figure) Column d is the balance. How do I get Column d to move down to the next row automatically so I can just add in the next payment. I tried the “if” and that did not work.

  4. Hi Baz,
Great learning lesson as I’m a newbie and learning the ways of scripting. My background is VB with a little python thrown in for luck.
I’m intently following https://www.bazroberts.com/2022/09/28/automatic-team-maker-apps-script/ entitled “How to make an automatic team maker app using Apps Script”. I eventually want to learn and expand this to 6 teams, 24 players (Billiards) with handicap for each team.
I can’t find the error. Also there seems to be a line 7 missing in the text.
So far, (e) is undefined. The trigger may not be executing when switching between make and done.
    Can you help?

    1. Hi Chuck!
It’s important to set up the onEdit trigger before running the script, which will capture the edit event and store it in “e”.
      How you done that?
If you need any more help on this email me at baz@bazroberts.com
      🙂
