Learn how to use spreadsheets!
Reflection – One of the things that set me off on my Google Workspace journey was learning spreadsheet functions. Initially, I did it in Excel then I discovered Google Sheets, and like they say I never looked back! If you’re new to them, they are things like =SUM(A1:A100), which would add figures in column A.
I’m always surprised that even though so many people use spreadsheets every day in their work that they only know the basics, and learning things like functions would make their lives so much easier.
It was certainly also the springboard for making a number massive improvements in my department and then it led to me learning Google Apps Script, which is the easy-to-learn code that sits behind the Workspace apps. That basically changed everything and over the years I’ve been amazed what you can do with it.
So, my advice for this year? Learn spreadsheet functions and / or Google Apps Script! You won’t regret it! 😎
